Today’s MTB prompt is poetry with a colour motif:

Take one or more literal colours (not a fancy colour name)

Repeat the colour word(s) throughout the poem (e.g. refrain; anaphora, epistrophe)

use colour synonyms

Employ colour with its specific meaning to the poem’s theme. Let your colour motif(s) also become symbolic

Blue Is The Warmest Colour

Your dress shines blue – it is crisp and fresh and clean

Like an autumn-crisp sky after yesterday’s rain

Inside your flesh glows pink and vibrant too

And you hum a little – happily, no longer blue in spirt, trapped inside yourself

I see your colour strong and bright as a candle flame

At times it has struggled to shine amidst the chaos I have written you in

But now we are together and not held by a solitary thread

Our beings are tethered but independent

Sometimes we need each other, sometimes not

It feels like unspooling cotton spinning off a bobbin reel

We both have our own sense of being

And in that knowledge we shine – bright as blueberries piled on top of pancakes

Your presence has been a constant – certain as an ocean

Sometimes choppy – like falling rain tumbling from white cotton clouds

Sometimes soft – lapping in and out following its own story, of high tide and low tide

In these winter months it spits out wild, white horses when it rages

We see it and giggle – free as blue birds

We like it when the sea is shouting, choppy and brave – It tells a story

One that is constant but moving

When I am safe and feeling well my cheeks shine like apples

And my heart can slow down – safe in the knowledge of you

My eyes are starting to sparkle, blue, like yours now

Full of hope and a sense that I can learn something every day

It is a gift – to feel warm inside and I am glad I can share that with you.
