Beloved Books
There are beloved books for different times
When I am feeling sad I want to escape
Read easy flowing, simple words
When my head is busy I need facts
Lists and lines and order
Always there will be change and magicks in everything that we see
Not just books – there are many signs and signals in the world
If we just learn to look upwards
Everything book and word that I have read
Has made me and taught me about life
How to be – and at times, thrive
Of course I have you Alice
And you will always be special
Perhaps in the end we are all just stories
There are adventures and battles
Love and loss
Light and darkness
If the all the words we absorb become beloved
Perhaps they will turn our heads to the sun and clouds
In a quiet, private celebration
And in the pleasure knowing that when one book or letter ends
The world can give us more and more stories.
