The lake is like pink penicillin – gulped down with frequency in childhood years

It was like strawberries which made me keep on drinking it

Discreetly and happily –

Despite the fact that it rotted my teeth

Opening the top myself made me giggle

Perhaps it was my first medicine

Longer lists of them now keep me swimming

Of course the magical potion wasn’t enough to quell the fire inside

I dived in the lake – I swam in the lake –

I woke up and grew bored of the lake

Pink can be deceptive but outside –

Winter clouds, flowers and lakes

All make the world feel magical yet safe.

Ah, sometimes that happens, I think…what first we enjoy after a while becomes mundane. An interesting perspective, Jae.

The pink lake does look like penicillin, great memory. I especially like your two closing lines – the world full of nature’s magic.

I remember that pink potion a cure all. I never liked the taste of it. Nature does seem to make things feel magical safe.

It didn’t taste as nice as candy but still sweet! Thank you Truedessa

How magically you wrap the lake and swimming around the attraction of the pink medicine which was so bad for you as a child. Nature has a different kind of magic, and I hope its safety isn’t an illusion. Thank you for this amazing poem.

Wow! Pink is not always hunky-dory! And thank god that Nature still has her magic and safe and offers her shelter to the tired souls. I love this different take on the prompt.
