โ€˜Today we are to write a minimalist, small space poem focusing on a vivid, concrete and specific image that might convey a complex idea or emotion in a single moment. We need a direct language to describe this. It would be perfect if the poem stays within eight lines. For this all we have to do is select an image of our choice and present the โ€˜thingโ€™ itself. While isolating the single image, aim should be at revealing its essence and avoiding any decorative word’.

Verity – Damien Hirst, Ilfracombe ..sourced from Wikipedia

She stands out from the crowd

All the things I never was

Strong, fertile, fighting, weighing the scales of justice

She looks over the waters where I failed to grow

Solid and silver, tarnished only by time and the coming and going of waves

For me she is the magic trick

The one where you came and made me believe

The one that changed reality into moon beams and stars

The one that said Iโ€™m alive.
