Blue Of Moon

The moon shines like a silver penny
Hold aloft in a child’s hand
It offers up its milky protection
On a darkened, starry sky
She smiles quietly, looking at the heavens fondly
Humming a private tune
I read and catch glimpses of her happy face
Every time I look up
It makes me feel complete – having both words and her
We are both beginning to feel the world – the real world
One which we are making safe and learning how to flourish in
Or at least be content in
Discarding spoons and powder and things that burn inside and out
How wonderful that feels
Like my healing skin which gains strength with time
That is not my life’s work any more
There are far more word pictures that I can make
Patching up our boat so we can fly dreamily
Over our own Wonderland skies
The light makes her glow
Highlights the brightness in her eyes
And the hope I have inside
We will follow its orbit as best as can
There will be days when we tumble
But we will never lose this inner light
One which sparkles and we can take pride in
Like her freshly pressed sky blue dress
I am redefining my world
So we can live under the new rules of the shining blue moon.
